Great old school barber shop with amazing prices. You can't make appointments; it's first come first serve. You might have to wait a little while depending on the time you come in, but it's usually not too long. I've never received a haircut here that I didn't like. Highly recommended.

Dawn knows knows how I like my hair and does a wonderful job cutting it. Paul is an awesome old school barber. I have issues with haircuts and I'm always at ease when I'm there. And then there's Terri. She too knows exactly what I like.

This is a father and daughter barber shop both very experienced. Father is very quick and gives a good haircut. I have the daughter, Dawn, cut my hair and she takes more time, is very personable, and does a great job. Highly recommend. Be aware they don't take appointments so may have to wait.
I am glad to replicate my review from Yelp to Google: First thing first, I am glad to give a 5-star, 99/100, A rating. I must admit that I am a lazy person, having lived in the Layton area for more than 10 years, I always go to the nearest and the same barber and am too lazy to explore other barbers. After seeing my barber keep raising prices during and after the pandemic, I am eventually fed up with them and end up finding J&P on Yelp. A 17 (as of 06/2023) haircut for both men and women is definitely one of the most affordable (if not the most affordable)in Layton/Ogden area. It is a shame to see other local barbers raise the price from 15ish/20ish before the pandemic to 30ish during and after the pandemic. How did Paul (the owner of J&P) manage to make hair cut so affordable? I believe one of the reasons is he is experienced, skillful, and efficient, he was able to get my haircut done in less than 15 minutes (while my previous barbers use about 30 minutes), which is what I like. Big thank you to Paul, I wish I had known your shop 10 years before. I hope you and your daughter will keep serving our community in the next decade(s), though I know you have been in this business for over 40 years. BTW, I do see some negative reviews on Paul, while I cannot speak for others, what I want to say is I am a normal man looking for a normal hairstyle and nothing fancy, so being fast and efficient is what I like to see in a barber, and Paul is the exact barber I want.
